The purpose of the American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED program is to help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first-aid emergencies.

The courses in this program teach skills that participants need to know to give immediate care to a suddenly injured or ill person until more advanced medical personnel arrive and take over. This program offers a choice of first-aid, CPR and AED courses to meet the various training needs of a diverse audience.
This course reflects the 2010 Consensus on Science for CPR sand Emergency Cardiovascular Care(ECC) and the 2015 Guidelines for First Aid. These treatment recommendations and related guidelines have been reviewed by the American Red Cross Scientific Advisory Council, a panel of nationally recognized experts in fields that include emergency medicine, occupational health, sports medicine, school and public health, emergency medical services(EMS), aquatics, emergency preparedness and disaster mobilization.
