This Permit-Required Confined Space Training Program was designed and developed for employees who work in/around confined spaces. See, confined spaces can be dangerous to the uninformed and untrained worker. Some spaces are more dangerous than others and confined space conditions can change rapidly from no obvious hazards to life threatening. These hazards of confined spaces are often overlooked and often lead to tragedy.

OSHA, or the Occupational Safety & Health Administration, mandates that employees working in or around confined spaces be must receive specialized training. The level of training required is determined by the worker's role in/around the confined spaces.

- Confined Space Entrant
- Confined Space Attendant
- Confined Space Entry Supervisor
- Confined Space Rescuer
Upon successful completion of this program, participants must:
- Understand the requirements of OSHA's 29 CFR 1910.146
- Be familiar with basic confined space terminology
- Understand the employer's obligation to implement and maintain a Confined Space Entry Program
- Know the definitions of a confined space (what a confined space is and what it's not)
- Understand the difference between a Permit-Required Confined Space and a Non-Permit Required Space
- Recognize the different hazards of confined spaces (physical, health, atmospheric, configuration, etc.)
- Be familiar with requirements to have rescue team readily available for
- Know and understand the roles and duties of a Confined Space Entrant
- Know and understand the roles and duties of a Confined Space Attendant
- Know and understand the roles and responsibilities of a Confined Space Entry Supervisor
- Know and understand the roles and responsibilities of a Confined Space Rescuer
- Be familiar with special considerations when selecting a rescue service
- Understand requirements of atmospheric monitoring
- Be familiar with monitoring and detection equipment frequently used in confined spaces
- Know the importance of responding only to their level of training
Upon completion of site-specific training, participants must:
- Be familiar with their employer's Confined Space Entry Program requirements
- Know how to recognize/identify the confined spaces within their workplace
- Be familiar with the basic atmospheric monitoring and detection equipment provided by the employer
- Understand personal protective equipment requirements specific to their workplace
- Know where to turn Confined Space Entry Permits in, once entry has been completed
- Know their role and the proper response in the event of any confined space emergency
